Why stay in Europe when you’re in the need for some winter activities. When you have been up in the mountains in Canada you never want to go back to the Alps.
The Canadian winter sport areas appeal is in the quality of snow (mostly powder snow) and beautiful surroundings.
In Ontario you can travel to the Blue Mountains and Thunder Bay. In British Columbia the Whistler Mountains are best known for great slopes and après ski bars. While staying in Vancouver you might want to take a day trip to Grouse Mountain where you can ski and have great views over Vancouver. They even have night openings, so that you’re able to ski at night while looking over the lights of Vancouver.
In Alberta you travel to the Rocky Mountains. You can either go to Banff or Jasper for skiing as both have excellent slopes. And a must are the hot springs for some well needed relaxation after your day on the mountain.
In Northwest of Montréal in the province of Québec you will find the Laurentides. It’s a destination popular for all kind of winter activities.
Worried about your luggage? You can rent equipment easily in most areas, so no need to take your own gear. And while the après ski might not be up to European standards most towns have great bars and restaurants to relax and maybe even have an après ski party.
The season lasts from November till May, with January and February as the best and busiest months.
