The Story of the Totem Pole

This year’s winter exhibition The Story of the Totem Pole at Museum Volkenkunde (National Museum of Ethnology) focuses on Native North American culture. 
The large interactive family exhibition concentrates on the Indians of the Northwest Coast of the United States and Canada. Especially for the exhibition, Museum Volkenkunde commissioned a group North American First Nation artists led by Rande Cook to create an 8 meter high totem pole. This spectacular object is the first one in The Netherlands displayed in public places. The Northwest Coast First Nations are world-famous for their magnificent totem poles Therefore this winter a visit to Museum Volkenkunde will be the ultimate family trip! read more
